We are thrilled to have recently facilitated a significant partnership between Iftiin Education and Development (IFED), a Somali-run NGO, and Book Aid International.
IFED, which translates to ‘Light’ in Somali, is an organization committed to shedding light on the education of Somali children. Working relentlessly in Somalia’s most disadvantaged regions, IFED runs schools to foster quality education and bright futures for children who might otherwise fall through the cracks of opportunity.
However, despite their tireless work, IFED faced a key obstacle – a significant shortage of educational resources. As a nation, Somalia has suffered through decades of political instability, leading to a debilitating lack of access to educational materials for young learners.
It’s here that Book Aid International steps in, guided by their mission to end book poverty worldwide. An organization renowned for their commitment to providing books and resources to underprivileged communities, they proved to be the perfect fit to support IFED’s commendable mission.
Recognizing the synergy between these two organizations, we at Native Initiative took the lead in bringing them together. We facilitated a dialogue between IFED and Book Aid International, sowing the seeds of a partnership that would bring much-needed resources to the children of Somalia.
And the fruits of this partnership were abundant – Book Aid International generously donated 10,000 books to IFED-run schools in Somalia. This donation equips the young learners with the knowledge, creativity, and inspiration that books uniquely offer, significantly enhancing their learning environment.
We are incredibly proud at Native Initiative to have played a part in bringing this vital partnership to life. But our role extends beyond just facilitating this collaboration. We are committed to ensuring the efficient use of these resources, monitoring their distribution and analyzing the resulting impact on the students’ educational outcomes.
